Hidden Flame: Bound to the Triplet Dragon Kings
Chapter 130: Ally In The Shadows pt1
Avery
We stand side by side, our minds racing with the knowledge that Queen Victoria is plotting something sinister. My eyes narrow in concentration, I turn to James with a determined expression. “I’m summoning a friend,” I declare, my voice steady despite the gravity of the situation.
James, his muscular frame clad in finely crafted leather armor, raises an eyebrow, his bright green eyes flashing with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. A friend, huh? And what kind of friend can help us against the likes of Victoria?” he asks, his tone laced with sarcasm. I ignore his doubt, my focus unwavering as I begin to chant softly, my hands moving in intricate patterns through the
air.
Moments later, a raven lands gracefully on the windowsill outside, its dark feathers glistening in the dim light. James scoffs, his arms crossing over his broad chest. “I don’t see how a bird is going to help us,” he mutters, his frustration evident. Unperturbed, I open the window with a swift motion, allowing the raven to enter. It perches between them, its dark eyes gleaming with an intelligence that seems almost human.
In a flicker of movement, the raven transforms into a man, his tall, athletic frame clad in black leather. His long black hair falls in straight strands, and his void–like eyes seem to pierce through the very souls of those he gazes upon. A smirk plays on his lips as he regards James. “Daft King, I am no mere bird,” Donn declares, his voice smooth and laced with amusement. Turning to me, he adds, “Darling, you’ve certainly gotten yourself into a pickle this time.”
James gasps, his eyes widening in shock as he takes in the man before him. “A Raven? Avery, you know a Raven?” he exclaims, his voice tinged with disbelief. I chuckle softly, a hint of pride in my voice. “I don’t just know one, I know them all–I freed them. And Donn here? He’s my favorite.”
As the tension in the room eases slightly, Donn’s smirk deepens. “Flattery will get you everywhere, my dear,” he teases, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “But enough of this banter. We have a queen to dethrone and a kingdom to save. Shall we?”
I nod, my expression turning serious as I gesture for Donn to join us at the small table in the center of the room. James, still processing the revelation about my connection to the Ravens, takes a seat beside me, his mind racing with questions. Donn, ever the enigmatic figure, settles gracefully into the chair opposite us, his long legs crossing at the ankles.
“Victoria’s been amassing power, hasn’t she?” I begin, my voice low and steady. “We need to know her next move, and more importantly, we need to stop her before she can execute it.”
Donn leans forward, his elbows resting on the table as he steeples his fingers. “The queen’s ambitions are no secret, but her methods are as shadowy as the night sky. She’s been forging alliances with lesser houses, promising them power and protection in exchange for their loyalty. But her true strength lies in her ability to manipulate and control.”
James grunts, his green eyes flashing with determination. “We can’t let her consolidate her power any further. We need to strike at the heart of her operation, disrupt her plans before they come to fruition.”
ལ་
My lips press into a thin line as I consider our options. “We’ll need to gather more information. Donn, can you infiltrate her court?
Find out what she’s planning?”
Donn’s smirk returns, his void–like eyes glinting with a dangerous light. “Infiltrate? My dear, I can do more than that. I can become her shadow, her confidant, her most trusted advisor. By the time she realizes what’s happening, it’ll be too late.”
James raises an eyebrow, a hint of admiration creeping into his voice “You’re that confident in your abilities?”
Donn’s laughter is low and velvety, sending a shiver down James’s spine. “Confidence is my middle name, King. And besides. I owe Avery a debt. She freed my kind, and I intend to repay her in full. Plus, I like her. You? I am still unsure about.”
As the conversation continues, the room grows warmer, the tension giving way to a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose. My

mind races with the possibilities, my strategic mind already plotting our next moves. James, though still processing the revelation about my connection to the Ravens, feels a surge of determination. With Donn’s help, we just might stand a chance against Victoria,
But as the night wears on and our plans take shape, a shadow of uncertainty lingers. Victoria is a formidable foe, and her reach is long. They know that their mission is far from over, and that the true test of their resolve is yet to come. As Donn prepares to depart, his dark eyes meet mine, and a silent understanding passes between us. I’ll send word as soon as I have something, he promises, his voice low and intense.
I nod, my expression grateful. “Be careful, Donn. Victoria’s not one underestimate.”
With a final smirk, Donn vanishes into the night, leaving us alone in the chamber. The silence between us is comfortable, a testament to the bond we share. James turns to me, his green eyes searching my face. “You never cease to amaze me,” he murmurs,
his voice thick with emotion.
My lips curve into a soft smile as I reach out to take his hand. “We’re in this together, James. No matter what happens, we’ll face it side by side.” As our fingers intertwine, the tension of the night melts away, replaced by a sense of unity and purpose. We know that the road ahead will be treacherous, but with each other, and with allies like Donn, we are ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead. But as we stand there, hand in hand, a whisper of doubt creeps into my mind. What if Victoria is more powerful than we anticipated? What if our plans fail, and we are left vulnerable to her wrath? The thought sends a shiver down my spine, but I push it aside, focusing instead on the strength of our bond and the determination that burns within us.

Avery
For now, we will rest, and prepare for the Battles to come. The weight of our mission settles upon us, a constant reminder of the stakes we face. Victoria’s shadow looms large, and we know that our ime is running out. In the darkness of their chambers, we lie entwined hoping we can make it to Talos soon, our bodies a tangle of limbs and desire. The events of the night have left us both aroused, our passion ignited by the thrill of our mission and the danger that lurks just beyond our doorstep.
My fingers trace the contours of James’s chest, my touch light and teasing as I whisper against his skin. “You know, I’ve been thinking,” I murmur, my breath hot against his ear. “We’ve been so focused on Victoria, but what about us?”
James’s eyes darken with desire as he rolls onto his back, pulling me on top of him. “What about us?” he asks, his voice husky with
want.
My smile is wicked as I straddle his hips, my hands roaming over his broad shoulders. “I think it’s time we reminded ourselves just how strong our bond is,” I purr, my eyes glittering with mischief.
James’s hands grasp my hips, his touch firm and possessive as he pulls me down onto him. “Then let’s make sure there’s no he growls, his voice low and intense.
doubt,”
As our lips meet in a feverish kiss, the world around them fades away, replaced by a maelstrom of sensation and desire. My fingers dig into James’s shoulders as he rolls me over, his body pressing me into the mattress. His mouth trails down my neck, his teeth grazing my skin as he whispers against my pulse point. “You’re mine, Avery,” he murmurs, his voice a ragged growl. “And I’m going to make sure you never forget it.”
My moan is soft and needy as I arch my back, my body responding to his touch with a hunger that borders on desperation. “Yes,” she breathes, her voice thick with desire. “Claim me, James. Make me yours again.”
James’s hands roam over my body, his touch both gentle and demanding as he explores every inch of my skin. His mouth follows, his lips and tongue mapping my curves as he worships me with his body. My fingers tangle in his hair, my hips bucking against him as I surrender to the pleasure he’s giving me. As our passion builds, the air in the room grows heavy with the scent of our desire. James’s hands grasp my thighs, his touch firm as he spreads my legs wide, positioning himself at my entrance. My eyes meet his, my gaze locked onto his as I whisper, “Now, James. Take me now.”
With a primal growl, James thrusts into me, his body filling me completely as he claims me with a ferocity that leaves us both breathless. My nails dig into his back, my body arching off the bed as I meet his thrusts with a hunger that matches his own. Qur bodies move in perfect harmony, our passion a tempest that threatens to consume us both. James’s mouth finds mine, his kiss deep and possessive as he ravages me with his lips and tongue. My moans are soft and needy, my body trembling on the edge of release as I cling to him, my fingers digging into his skin.
As our climax approaches, the room is filled with the sounds of our passion, our moans and gasps echoing off the walls. James’s thrusts become more urgent, his body driving into mine with a force that leaves me breathless. My eyes roll back in my head, my body convulsing around him as I cry out his name, my release a tsunami of pleasure that washes over me.
James follows, his body stiffening as he empties himself into me, his growl of satisfaction a primal sound that sends shivers down my spine. As our bodies come down from the heights of their passion, they lie entwined, their hearts beating in unison as they
catch their breath.
My fingers trace the contours of James’s face, my touch gentle and loving as I regard him with a soft smile. “I love you, James,” I whisper, my voice thick with emotion.
James’s eyes meet mine, his gaze intense and full of love as he brushes a strand of hair from her face. “I love you too, Avery,” he murmurs, his voice low and tender. “And I’ll do whatever it takes to protect you, and our kingdom, from Victoria’s gras
we lie there, lost in each other’s arms, the weight of our mission settles upon us once more. But for now, we are content to say be, our bond strengthened by the passion we share and the love that burns between us. Outside, the night is quiet, the palace still as the world sleeps. But within the walls of our chamber, we are awake, our minds alert and our bodies sated. We know that the road ahead

will be long and treacherous, but with each other by their side, we a ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
And as we drift off to sleep, our bodies entwined and our hearts beating as one, we know that we will face the dawn together, our love and their bond a beacon of hope in a world filled with darkness and danger. We dream of whispers of conspiracy and betrayal begin to weave through the palace, Victoria’s reach is long, and her power is great, and though Avery and James are strong, they know that they must remain vigilant, for the enemy is always watching, and the danger is never far away. We woke during the night and decided to disregard Victoria’s request to remain in Drago. I opened a portal and we went home, straight into our bedchamber and fell asleep.
As the first light of dawn creeps into the chamber, I stir, my body still heavy with the satisfaction of our passionate encounter. James lies beside me, his breathing deep and steady, his arm draped possessively across my waist. I smile softly, my fingers tracing the contours of his chest, feeling the rise and fall of his breath beneath my touch. The others aren’t in here as they must be preparing for war.
